This website was started in November 1998. Like many established businesses, we wanted to put up a website, both to offer online product information, and to help facilitate the ordering process. This is especially important for customers who live in remote parts of Alaska. Our unique product mix has also gathered interest outside Alaska.

I started the site as an after-hours project, but it's success has been such that management of the website has become one of my primary job functions. Any good website is constantly evolving, and such is the case with ours. I'm constantly working on new additions and updates. I'm proud of the fact that the website is totally maintained in-house, and has paid for itself every step of the way.

2009 Update - The site has languished while my attentions were elsewhere, and so is in need of a revision. Work is in progress to significantly add to the website and to revamp existing pages. See our new online store at http://www.akmining.com/store.htm

The website averaged 5,422 visitors per day in December 2008, with a total of 168,088 visitors. This was not hits or page views, but actual visitors.

The website is hosted by Pair Networks. I use Microsoft FrontPage to build the website. Graphics are optimized with IrfanView32. The shopping cart system is by Americart. The shopping pages are generated directly from our inventory using GDIdb Pro. Updates to the search engines are done via Submit Express. Our site search engine is powered by Picosearch.com. Site statistic analysis is with Webalizer, 123LogAnalyzer, and WebLog Expert Lite.
