The new Minelab X-Terra 305 incorporates features not seen in metal detector technology before, building on the success of the previous X-Terra models. First and foremost is the ability of the detector to sense the coil that is attached to it and adjust it's operating parameters accordingly. The X-Terra 305 can actually change operating frequencies depending on the searchcoil that is attached to it. 7.5 kHz, and 18.75 kHz frequencies just by switching coils (optional 18.75 kHz coil required). The X-Terra 305 also lets you manually ground balance, a critical feature missing in many detectors in this price range. This ground balance feature plus an optional 18.75 kHz coil will make the Minelab X-Terra 705 a capable prospecting detector.

Other features include multiple audio target settings. You can choose a single tone, 2, or 3 tones... and even multi-tone! Digital numeric discrimination features 12 target segments. Digital notch discrimination means that these 12 target categories can be selectively set to either accept or reject the chosen target type. Even coins can be discriminated out, a desirable feature for those who wish to search for jewelry items and not waste time digging pennies. Easy audio and visual pinpointing is available at the touch of a button. Depth indication is instant and automatic, and battery strength is displayed continuously. The three position noise cancel helps eliminate interference from outside electrical sources and other nearby metal detectors. All adjustable setting are can be saved in memory and are instantly available when the detector is reactivated at a later time, with two programmable modes plus an all-metal mode.
All this and more in a lightweight package weighing less than 3 pounds! The entire electronics package is contained in the display/control pod, which plugs into the end of the handle. Fully waterproof 9" concentric 7.5 kHz and 18.75 kHz searchcoils are currently available (the 7.5 kHz coil is stock equipment), with a total of seven coils available now. The ergonomic rod assembly includes a padded four position arm cup with arm strap and integrated detector stand. The earphone jack has a protective cover for when the speaker is in use.
The Minelab X-Terra 305 is an ideal machine for those wanting a versatile, powerful, and yet affordable metal detector in a lightweight package. Coin hunters can get good depth while eliminating chosen trash categories. Jewelry hunters can eliminate most coins and ferrous items to concentrate on that gold "sweet spot" lower in the discrimination scale. Relic hunters can search in all-metal while still getting audio and visual target identification. And the manual ground balance, sensitive gain, and 18.75 kHz mode (optional coil required) combine to make the Minelab X-Terra 305 suitable for gold nugget detecting.
