The full title of the book is A Prospectors Guide to the Physical and Chemical identification of Mineral. It is a book used by the University of Alaska to teach practical field identification of minerals to prospectors. As such, it focuses on those minerals a prospector will be most interested in. The tests are clear and revolve around a simple chart system that lead you to a proper identification. Physical properties are used to make the initial determination, and then chemical tests using a small number of chemicals are used to verify the identity of the mineral.
